Sasha Sigetic, Director

Sasha Sigetic

Sasha grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, and first learned to crochet at the age of 7. Taught by her grandmother who had immigrated from Croatia, she began her fiber journey by making anything and everything she could think of, mostly for her dolls. These skills were augmented by receiving her first sewing machine for Christmas at the same age.

The art of making, of using your hands to produce beautiful and useful things has always been a part of her life. In high school she learned to knit from her other grandmother, and reignited a love for that skill in her late 20s by deciding she would learn to make socks. From these early roots, a fiber freak was born.

Sasha currently lives on her goat farm in Southeastern Ohio with her daughter, menagerie of animals and landmates in an intentional community land project. She is the current Education Director of The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association and was the previous Program Manager of Agroecology at Hocking College. As a farmer, educator and advocate for small and mid-sized farmers, she understands that they are where the fibershed starts and are an integral part of our sustainable fiber future.
