Lisa Heinz, Founder and Board President

Lisa Heinz

Since 1992, Lisa Heinz has lived and worked as an entrepreneur in Athens County, Ohio where her professional background in digital marketing and brand development has been tapped by local businesses and organizations. She received her Master of Arts degree in Media Studies from Ohio University in 2015, and at the same time began to dabble in wool and wool processing. Lisa grew up in a family of textile crafters learning at an early age, sewing, crochet, knitting, embroidery, and macramé from grandmothers, mother, aunts, and other strong women in the family.

After several years learning about wool’s place in sustainable textile development, Lisa established Southeast Ohio Fiberworks in 2019 to create a regional fiber hub. This goal provides added value to wool from regional fiber producers and supports our work toward the manufacture of unique regional products from local wool.

As Lisa redevelops our local wool supply chain, she offers small batch hand-dyed yarn and embroidery floss, hand-spun yarn, locally sourced roving, and other supplies as they become available to fiber artists in and around Southeast Ohio.

As her wool business, Southeast Ohio Fiberworks, you can find her at regional festivals, the Athens Farmers’ Market, and other events selling her yarn and other fiber products. On social media, look for @seohiofiberworks on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
